Reword a question, or ask it again

Questions in the Assistant can now be edited, and answers re-run against today's data — without losing what you had before.

Ask the wrong thing and you used to be stuck with it: the mistaken question and its answer stayed in the conversation, and every question after that carried them along.

Now you can edit any question. Hover it, click the pencil, reword it, ask. The assistant answers from that point with the corrected wording, and the version you replaced is kept — a small 2 / 2 ‹ › appears under the question so you can flip between them whenever you like. Nothing is thrown away; you are simply reading one version at a time.

Ask again does the same from the other side. Positions move, exposure moves, a symbol's settings get changed — an answer from an hour ago may no longer be true. The button under any answer runs that question again against the platforms as they are now, and keeps the earlier answer beside it, so you can see what changed rather than guess.

Two smaller things worth knowing:

  • A reworded question costs less than asking a new one. Everything you replaced leaves the conversation the assistant is working from, so it is not re-read, and not paid for, on every question that follows.
  • Whichever version you were last reading is the one that comes back when you open the conversation again, on this or any other device.
  • The version you are reading is part of the page address, so you can bookmark it or send it to a colleague and they will open the same one you were looking at — not whichever happened to be read last. Your browser's Back and Forward step through the versions you looked at, too.

Conversations that have never been reworded look exactly as they did — the switcher only appears where there is something to switch between.
